La Sagrera continues to take shape as Barcelona’s future major intermodal station

Work on the new La Sagrera station is progressing steadily, forming a key part of the transport infrastructure for Barcelona and its metropolitan area.

COMSA Corporación is participating in this project as part of a joint venture with Dragados, ACCIONA and Sorigué. Among the works in which the company is involved, now that the station’s structure and roof have been completed and the Rodalies and AVE tracks are operational, the highlights include the construction of the foundations and the first pillars of the Intermodal Hub, the Bus Station and the roads associated with the station.

Yesterday’s visit by the Minister for Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente, provided an opportunity to assess the progress of the project, in which three of the eight high-speed tracks have been in service since March 2025 and the other five are in place, pending the final works required for their commissioning.

La Sagrera is set to become Barcelona’s major multimodal hub, bringing together high-speed, long-distance and medium-distance rail services, Rodalies, the metro and buses in a single location.
