COMSA Industrial has concluded the installation of the electromechanical systems and ITS (Intelligent Traffic Systems) of the tunnels integrated in the Cruce de la Cordillera Central, the greatest road construction work of Colombia’s history, which was inaugurated yesterday, 22 November. This project allows improving the mobility between the centre and the south west of the country, as well as boosting the economy and competitivity.
The Cruce de la Cordillera Central project covers a 30 km track between Calarcá (Quindío) and Cajamarca (Tolima). 60 works have been executed: 30 km of second road, 25 tunnels (with a total length of 22 km), 31 viaducts (with a total length of 5 km) and 3 road exchangers.
COMSA Industrial has been responsible for the installation of the electromechanical systems and ITS of the tunnels, including the La Línea Tunnel, the longest of Latin America (8.6 km). Thus, it has participated in the design, supply, installation and commissioning of the project’s electromechanical systems such as fire detection and extinction, ventilation, lighting, energy, as well as ITS, SOS posts, closed circuit TV, communications and radio communications, dynamic signalling and the Control Centre.
