The extension of the M1 line of the Palma de Mallorca Metro is inaugurated

Wednesday saw the inauguration of the extension of the M1 line of the Palma de Mallorca Metro between the Universitat de les Illes Balears (UIB) and Parc Bit stations. This project, carried out by COMSA, in a joint venture with Tecsa, MAB Obras Públicas and Coexa, reinforces the public rail transport network, offering greater connectivity to the city and its surroundings.

The inaugural journey was attended by the president of the Government of the Balearic Islands, Margalida Prohens; the councillor for Housing, Territory and Mobility, José Luis Mateo; the president of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés; the mayor of Palma, Jaime Martínez; the director general of Mobility, Lorena del Valle, and the manager of Serveis Ferroviaris de Mallorca (SFM), José Ramón Orta, among other authorities.

The new route is 1.4 kilometres long, 1.1 kilometres of which are underground, crossing the Parc Bit access road underground.

Moreover, this extension makes it possible to go from the UIB to Parc Bit in two minutes and in fifteen minutes from the centre of Palma.

This action, part of the Sectorial Master Plan for Mobility of the Balearic Islands, reflects our commitment to improving key infrastructures for mobility in the region.
