Today was held the cornerstone-laying ceremony for the BlueTechPort at the Port of Barcelona, a strategic project that will transform the Sant Bertran warehouses into the largest innovation hub for the blue economy in the Mediterranean. The project is being carried out by COMSA in a joint venture with VOPI-4, S.A.
The cornerstone-laying ceremony was attended by representatives from the Port of Barcelona, Puertos del Estado, the Government of Catalonia, Barcelona City Council and the World Trade Center Barcelona, highlighting the importance of the project for the city and the port system as a whole.
BlueTechPort will involve the redevelopment of 25,700 m² of former port warehouses into a campus designed to host 2,500 professionals, startups and research centres linked to the blue economy. The complex has been designed according to bioclimatic principles by b720 Fermín Vázquez Arquitectos, enabling a 60% reduction in energy consumption and the reuse of greywater.
The future hub will integrate the BCN Port Innovation Foundation and the Barcelona Logistics Institute and will include 50 metres of quay for real-life testing of marine technologies, positioning BlueTechPort as a benchmark for port and maritime innovation.
With this project, COMSA Corporación strengthens its positioning in the development of sustainable port infrastructures and contributes to consolidating Barcelona as an international reference for innovation in the maritime and logistics sectors.
