COMSA Corporation has formalised the signing of the contract to carry out one of Croatia’s largest railway projects. The company will undertake the reconstruction, extension and electrification of the M202 railway line for HŽ Infrastruktura, on the section between Hrvatski Leskovac and Karlovac, in a key initiative for the modernisation of rail transport in the country.
The project will cover 44 kilometres of track and will include the construction of a second track, new bridges and viaducts, the modernisation of stations and halts, and the installation of state-of-the-art electrification, signalling and rail traffic control systems. Once the works are completed, the line will allow speeds of up to 160 km/h.
This contract represents one of the group’s largest international projects and will help to improve the capacity, reliability and safety of the infrastructure, as well as strengthening its integration into European transport corridors.
The contract was signed by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of HŽ Infrastruktura d.o.o., Damir Loncaric, and the Director of Contracting at COMSA Corporación, Pedro Miguel Rivero Moya, in the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, Oleg Butković, amongst other officials.
This new project also consolidates COMSA Corporación’s track record in Croatia, where the group has been operating since 2015 and has carried out major railway projects in recent years, such as the Gradec–Zabno line and the modernisation of the Vinkovci–Vukovar line.
