COMSA Corporación will build the new Renfe workshop in Fuencarral, a key project that will strengthen railway maintenance in Spain.
The group will expand the engine maintenance workshop at the Fuencarral Self-propelled Base with the construction of a 240m long and 45m wide main building that will house a total of 6 tracks. It will also build a 3-storey office block.
COMSA will be in charge of the building and railway works -which will include the remodelling of the track superstructure and electrification- and COMSA Industrial will oversee the installations. In this sense, the company will carry out the following works:
- Sanitation and plumbing
- MV and LV electricity
- ACS
- Telecommunications
- Fire protection
- Air conditioning and ventilation
The project also includes the construction of a provisional workshop at the Fuencarral Norte Auxiliary Maintenance Base, which will be operational until the previous one is completed.
This workshop, 220 metres long and 15 metres wide, will have two Iberian gauge tracks on metal pillars. Working platforms with access from three points will be installed on both sides. In addition, the tracks inside the workshop will be electrified with rigid catenary anchored to the structure.
A double action that reinforces the efficiency, safety and capacity of railway maintenance.
