The deployment of the remote digital tower solution at Qaqortoq Airport in southern Greenland has been awarded the Seamless Skies Award in the Remarkable People & Workforce category at Airspace World 2026.
The award highlights the collaboration, resilience and teamwork that have made possible the development of an advanced solution for air traffic management in a highly complex environment, characterised by Arctic conditions and significant logistical challenges.
COMSA Corporación has played a key role in the project as the promoter and manager of the initiative, coordinating logistics and carrying out the supply and installation of the remote digital tower system. The project has included the tower for the panoramic camera system, the server room, communications between the cameras and servers, and the AFIS operator room, equipped with consoles and panoramic screens.
The award, shared with Frequentis and Greenland Airports, recognises the teams’ ability to develop high-value technological solutions in particularly demanding environments. This project contributes to improving safety, efficiency and air connectivity in one of the world’s most remote regions.
