COMSA Industrial has been awarded the electrification works of the Bilbao Port

COMSA Industrial, in a joint venture with Sampol and Montajes Eléctricos San Ignacio, has been awarded the second phase of the electrification project for the Port of Bilbao, an initiative promoted by the Port Authority of Bilbao and partially financed by the CEF European Funds.

The project will allow the ships berthed at the port to be connected to its electrical network, using OPS technology, reducing emissions, fuel consumption, noise and vibrations, thus contributing to the energy transition and decarbonisation of maritime transport.

The action includes the electrification of docks A1, A2, A6, AZ3, and Getxo 2 and 3, with repowering of the power lines to reach 30 MW. To this end, 3 distribution centres, 11 transformation centres, 11 OPS points and 20 outlets will be installed to provide service to the ships, regardless of their berthing point on the quay.

Our participation in this project reaffirms our commitment to the development of sustainable infrastructures that respect the environment.
