The Corredores Awards, organised by Adif, aim to recognise the best initiatives in the field of rail freight transport, highlighting projects that contribute to more efficient, sustainable and connected logistics.<\/p>\n

The awards ceremony was presided over by the Minister for Transport and Sustainable Mobility, \u00d3scar Puente, and brought together leading representatives from the rail and logistics sectors.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

An innovative maintenance model on strategic corridors<\/strong><\/p>\n

In this edition, GMF was jointly awarded the 2026 Corredores Award for its contribution to optimising fleet maintenance directly on rail corridors, an initiative that promotes operational efficiency and the competitiveness of freight transport. This model, based on bringing maintenance closer to the main logistics hubs of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T), reduces unnecessary train movements, optimises maintenance times and cuts energy consumption and associated emissions.<\/p>\n

To this end, GMF has established two strategic sites: the workshop in Constant\u00ed (Tarragona), situated alongside the Mediterranean Corridor and close to the Port of Tarragona, covering an area of 22,000 m\u00b2 and equipped with state-of-the-art facilities\u2014such as an in-pit lathe that allows wheels to be re-profiled without removing the axles\u2014; and the centre in Medina del Campo (Valladolid), situated on the Atlantic Corridor and currently being transformed into a modern long-stay workshop with over 3,000 linear metres of track and multiple specialised facilities.<\/p>\n

Thanks to this network, the company helps to improve fleet availability, reduce operating costs and move towards a more sustainable rail model, with a combined potential saving of around 900 tonnes of CO\u2082 per year, as well as strengthening the resilience and competitiveness of the logistics chain.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

A further step in the commitment to the development of rail transport<\/strong><\/p>\n

With over 20 years\u2019 experience, GMF has established itself as a key player in railway maintenance, offering comprehensive services for wagons, locomotives and track machinery. The company has facilities in Constant\u00ed (Tarragona) and Valladolid, from where it operates throughout Spain, as well as in Portugal, where it continues to expand its presence.<\/p>\n

In recent years, the company has strengthened its position by carrying out major projects both nationally and internationally, such as the conversion of around a hundred car-carrying wagons for Pecovasa (Renfe Mercanc\u00edas) and the comprehensive maintenance of the rolling stock on Line 2 of the Lima and Callao Metro, a landmark international contract spanning 25 years.<\/p>\n

This recognition highlights the specialisation, technical expertise and commitment of the GMF team to continuous improvement and the promotion of rail transport, a key mode for moving towards a more sustainable and efficient logistics model. It also reflects their experience in managing complex projects and their firm commitment to operational excellence, safety and the development of solutions tailored to their clients\u2019 needs.<\/p>\n

The award of this prize also reinforces COMSA Corporaci\u00f3n\u2019s position as a group committed to the development of the rail sector and to promoting solutions that contribute to the decarbonisation of transport and the competitiveness of the business sector.<\/p>\n
