{"id":11790,"date":"2018-08-30T11:37:42","date_gmt":"2018-08-30T10:37:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.comsa.com\/?p=11790"},"modified":"2021-02-05T16:40:52","modified_gmt":"2021-02-05T15:40:52","slug":"albepav-develops-a-new-pavement-based-on-recycled-glass-that-protects-against-urban-heat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.comsa.com\/en\/infrastructures\/albepav-develops-a-new-pavement-based-on-recycled-glass-that-protects-against-urban-heat\/","title":{"rendered":"Albepav develops a new pavement based on recycled glass that protects against urban heat"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>08\/30\/2018 &#8211; Albepav&#8217;s R&amp;D project, which is led by the Technical and Innovation unit of COMSA, has created a type of <strong>sustainable and high-durability asphalt that dissipates heat<\/strong> of the environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The pavement is comprised of <strong>recycled glass and a mixture of tempered low-consumption asphalt<\/strong> that <strong>allows a greater proportion of the sun&#8217;s rays to be reflected<\/strong>, thus limiting its ability to heat the urban air as commonly occurs with traditional asphalt. This pavement is able to absorb up to 95% of the solar radiation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new solution has been <strong>in the testing phase<\/strong> since May of this year. For the test, a 32 m section has been paved in the town of Men\u00e0rguens in Lleida, which temperatures oscillate between 2\u00baC in the winter and 33\u00baC in the summer. The purpose of this test is to determine the environmental impact of this new asphalt compared to conventional asphalt in an environment with a changeable weather.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This section is being monitored using<strong> temperature and humidity sensors that collect and process the most relevant data<\/strong>. Likewise, the consortium expects to develop a software for estimating the levels of environmental heat reduction provided by the new asphalt.
