09\/13\/2017 – Fergrupo, the infrastructure subsidiary of COMSA in Portugal, has recently been awarded three new projects for the track and electrical modernisation of different sections of the country\u2019s national rail network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the one hand, the company will carry out the renovation of the track superstructure between the towns of Valadares and Gaia belonging to the northern line of the country in order to improve its safety and reliability. The works, valued at more than 4 million euros, include the replacement of wooden sleepers with new concrete sleepers, the installation of 8.6 kilometres of track and the reinforcement of 3 level crossings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Infraestruturas de Portugal<\/a>\u00a0has also entrusted Fergrupo<\/a>\u00a0to carry out the maintenance of catenary and track equipment and systems in branches of 10 lines of the national network: Minho, the Concordancia de Sao Gemil branch, the Braga branch, Leixoes, Douro, Norte, Guimaraes, the Port of Aveiro branch, Tua and Vouga. For a total of nearly 2 million euros, the company will apply different preventive procedures to guarantee functionality and prevent anomalies, as well as corrective methods to address previously detected incidents. This contract is in addition to the contract for the maintenance of the Iberian gauge track switches and crossings that Fergrupo is currently implementing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, COMSA<\/a>\u2019s subsidiary in Portugal will undertake a third project to rehabilitate the section of track between V\u00e1lega and Gaia, also on the northern line, in order to mitigate the risks of deterioration that currently threaten the infrastructure. For this purpose, concrete sleepers will be provided, 3.9 kilometres of track will be installed, more than 2,000 cubic metres of ballast will be laid, and new safety walls will be built, reinforcing the existing walls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
