The project cost 70 million Euros and took place over 23 months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Gran Canaria Arena has first class facilities for practising sports, with a modern basketball court, numerous changing rooms and multipurpose rooms, stands with collapsible seats, VIP and press areas, a space for events with a capacity for 4,000 people, carparks and a spectacular scoreboard, amongst other things. In addition to building the venue, COMSA has improved access to such, while EMTE has installed air conditioning facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a title=\"Inaugurado el Gran Canaria Arena, sede del mundial de baloncesto de 2014 por COMSA EMTE, en Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/69167211@N03\/13288410593\/\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7036\/13288410593_b7a7d0e5fd.jpg\" alt=\"Inaugurado el Gran Canaria Arena, sede del mundial de baloncesto de 2014\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The sports hall will once again be the home turf of the local basketball team, Herbalife Gran Canaria, but is designed to hold large sporting events. Therefore, it will be one of the locations of the next basketball world cup which will be held inSpainin September and will organise the next edition of the 2015 basketball Copa del Rey.
