The initiative is funded by the Ag\u00e8ncia Catalana de l\u2019Aigua (<a href=\"http:\/\/aca-web.gencat.cat\/aca\/appmanager\/aca\/aca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"no follow noopener\">ACA<\/a>) and the Institut Catal\u00e0 d&#8217; Energia (ICAEN).<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The company has in particular implemented a remote energy management system that reduces the energy consumption of the facility significantly and extends the life of electromechanical equipment. In its first year in operation, the energy consumption of the Martorell WWTP has been reduced by 8.6%.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The system is based on energy management software by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.circutor.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"no follow noopener\">Circutor<\/a> company that Aig\u00fces de Catalunya has adapted and modified to optimize treatment plants.
