On November 28 COMSA participated in a series of conferences in Barcelona organized by the Technical University of Catalonia<\/a> (UPC) in order to inform students about the application of methodologies and new technologies in actual projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Topography coordinator in the Rail Infrastructure business, Carlos Plancho, shared a successful case with attendees that was introduced by the company in work on the Barcelona Metro between 2007 and 2010: kinematic surveying to gather topographic information about tunnels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As Plancho noted, data collection was performed by establishing the vehicle with the measurement system over a railway maintenance platform, a solution that, among other advantages, makes it possible to quickly obtain the required information without physical contact and, therefore, minimizes the risk of work-related accidents. The commitment to this working methodology resulted in a significant improvement in the project\u2019s safety, quality and productivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
