In the event, held at the headquarters of the <a title=\"Spanish Railway Fundation\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ffe.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Spanish Railways Foundation<\/a>, two doctoral theses from Switzerland and Portugal respectively and two dissertations from the <a title=\"UPC\" href=\"http:\/\/www.upc.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Polytechnic University of Catalonia<\/a> (UPC) were recognized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ceremony was attended by various personalities from the railway sector, including: <strong>Manuel Nino<\/strong>, General Manager of Railways, <strong>Enrique Verdeguer<\/strong>, President of ADIF, <strong>Joaquin del Moral<\/strong>, General Manager of Transport, <strong>Marcelino Oreja<\/strong>, President of Feve, or <strong>Juan Pedro Pastor<\/strong>, General Manager of the Spanish Railways Foundation. On COMSA EMTE\u2019s part, the chairman <strong>Jorge Miarnau<\/strong> and other directors from the Group attended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this edition the awards in the PhD category were for; \u2018Simulation of ballast behaviour under traffic and tamping process\u2019, Chiara Paderno (Switzerland) and \u2018Modelling and the prediction of dynamic behaviour of very high speed railway infrastructures\u2019, Patricia Ferreira (Portugal).
