COMSA Rail Transport, a railway company in GRUPO COMSA, was set up in 2002 to provide integrated rail logistics services and carry freight and passengers.
It also provides traction and towing equipment to public and private clients both at home and abroad.
It is the first company to be awarded a Railway Company License for freight operations which it started up in 2007.
COMSA Rail Transport is a founding member of the Asociación de Empresas Ferroviarias Privadas (AEFP) and a partner in the European Bulls Rail Freight Alliance, whose objective is to provide a premium quality integrated service geared towards the international rail freight market.
Major COMSA Rail Transport projects include the car shipping service between the SEAT plant at Martorell and the Port of Barcelona provided by Autometro (a company in which FGC and Pecovasa each have a stake), and the shipping of clinker in containers from the Port of Gijón to Valladolid.
COMSA Rail Transport operates in Poland through Fer Polska. It is also in the process of working towards a safety certificate in Portugal in order to start up rail transport operations.
