Grupo COMSA lands new rail contracts in Australia worth 43 million euros
23-04-2008MVM Rail, the Australian subsidiary of GRUPO COMSA, has won three new rail contracts worth €43 million in total. The projects bolster GRUPO COMSA’s growth strategy in the country, especially on the East Coast, and consolidate forecasts for the next financial year in which MVM expects to double its turnover up to €60 million.
The first of the projects consists of remodelling the Pring terminal and track renewal at the Abbot terminal in Queensland. This contract enlarges MVM’s order book with Queensland Rail, the leading rail operator in the state.
The second contract involves track work as part of the extension of the facilities of BHP Billiton, the world’s biggest mining company, in the Pilbara region in Western Australia. The contract includes reconfiguring the rail infrastructure to increase iron ore production and transport capacity. The project confirms the positioning of COMSA’s subsidiary as one of the main railway industry players in Australia.
Finally, MVM has landed the contract to reconfigure track and overhead contact lines at Lawson station in the Sydney commuter trains network. This project is MVM’s first for Railcorp, a State-owned corporation which runs metropolitan passenger services in Sydney.[...]
