GRUPO COMSA equipment and personnel can take on any type of electrification project whether for conventional or tramway systems. COMSA’s experience in the field of electrification comprises building new lines and maintenance work.

Grupo COMSA’s overhead contact line squads assemble and/or replace posts, brackets, wires and breakers, plus they also carry out all the jobs required to make sure that the electrification structure of any rail project is fully operational.

COMSA has put in place major projects such as the electrification of the Palma de Mallorca light railway (Plaza de España-Universidad Station) and the refurbishment of Chamartín station in Madrid and Sants station in Barcelona so as to upgrade them for high speed train services. Outside Spain it has contracts including one for the maintenance of the Santarem section of the Lisbon-Porto railway line in Portugal.

Experience in Poland

COMSA’s subsidiary in Poland, Trakcja Polska, carries out comprehensive overhead contact line modernisation and new build projects. Over the course of its sixty-year history it has helped with the electrification of more than 10,000 km of Polish railway lines. In the field of traction substations it supplies equipment and installs railway substations, having been involved in the construction of 447 of them. In recent years it has expanded its activities to take in tram substations and has carried out refurbishment work on the Winnicka, Wiatraczna, Dobrowoja and Rochów substations in Warsaw and supplied equipment for tram substations in other Polish cities such as Elblag.
